Genius Event 2018: Nepal Contribution

Running a preschool in Sindhuli, which is among the less developed districts of Nepal is a challenge made up for by the very diverse and bright children that I and my team work with. My school is first full fledged Montessori educational facility of the district.

We aim to provide a safe place, a healthy place, a respectful place, and good education based on tradition in Sindhuli. Children come from different places of Sindhuli to be a part of this school and even though they are small, some walk, some take the school van, some are dropped on bicycles and motorcycles by their parents, and a few come quite a distance to be a part of this school.

Aaravi Shrestha is just four years old and she is such a great dancer. Her body movements are graceful. She loves to move to the sound of Western as well as Eastern music. Folk numbers and remixes are her favourite and even when we turn on the music, her body is already moving.

Dikshika Ghising, you will see on the video, is great at art. She uses pencils, oil pastels, wet colors and makes really interesting work. Her hands are fine, the lines are well formed, and the content is excellently executed.

Krishna Thapa loves to speak and is a natural at communication. He stands before the microphone and is able to address a crowd of students, teachers, parents and visitors even at this early age. In class he can share his thoughts clearly and in an organized manner.

As the owner of the school, I am proud that we are sharing what genius is and what it may mean to these very young children. Perhaps not all of them will understand, but for us, this was an opportunity to understand again what genius is, look for potential within our school family. We were sensitized and learned to appreciate and recognize potential genius. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to share what we have.

I am inspired by Binod Kumar Khadka who is the representative in the parliament from Sindhuli. He is really special because I believe that he can make a big difference to our education. Famous for tangerines and oranges, this district has great people who are now all over the world. As my children grow, I believe that they will be world citizens and make a contribution for the good not only to the villages, towns of this districts but to the nation and the world.
