Kantipuri Nagari

NEPALI: a subject which brings in a melancholic expression in many student faces. However, here at Spiny Babbler, it redeems thought and presents sagacity.

Many students are prejudiced unwittingly about Nepali. The subject is very underrated and we really should enhance our knowledge by reading more about the subject. Knowing our mother tongue well is vital and would be ludicrous to not know about our own language well.

Presently, we are learning about the heritage of our country in Nepali at Spiny babbler. We acknowledged Nepal’s first poet-Bhanubhakta Acharya and enjoyed some of the work he has done. We are also making a comic book of the poem ‘Kantipuri Nagari’ by the Adi Kavi, to not only have a clear picture of Kathmandu back then, but also to learn about lifestyle and living then.

We learned that back then also women used to wear flowers in their hair and walked in happy groups. The men, used to carry weaponry, which also made you realize that you should not make them angry. There were temples and stupas everywhere which made Kantipur exquisite. Bhanubhakta thought what more could a man possibly want when he was at Balaju:

“Sitting in the nature, writing poems.”

Overall it was a really fun day, here at Spiny Babbler, learning so much.
