Pizza making

Raju Chaudhary, our neighbor taught us how to make pizza. He works at Jay Nepal. He is good at making Italian food. All the ingredients for the food that he makes are from Italy and he learned to make it when Italians had visited them. Kritan Shreshta who cooked for us taught us to make different delicious food back then. Now that he is gone Raju Dai is helping us to do cooking classes. Abin and Kusma are really good at making mo: mo. Now we will also get to know how to make pizzas. Raju sir also bakes yummy breads and gave us loaf bread long ago.

First in the morning before we came, my hosteller friends had made the dough ready. They put salt, sugar, yeast and hot water in the dough. We put the yeast in the dough to make the dough rise and make the bread fluffy. Raju sir told us that if you want to make the pizza in the morning you must make the dough ready a night before and cover it for the whole night.

Since the dough was ready now we started preparing the sauce for the pizza. We pulled the leaves of tomatoes. We put the boiled tomato in the mixture grinder and made a paste. After that we heated the tomato paste in a pan and put raju sir put some spices in it. It smelled delicious.

Kusma cut the onion and garlic. Sabita didi fried and mixed the onion and garlic with the paste of tomato. After one and half hour, Raju sir cut the mozzarella cheese into small pieces. I asked if I could be of any help to him so I helped him dice the cheese into small pieces. Mozzarella cheese was hard to cut as the cheese was always sticking to the knife. I could not cut the mozzarella cheese straight and properly but eventually I finished cutting the cheese. We put the cheese on a bowl and drizzled oil over the cheese. We made the trays, steel plates and the rolling pin ready. We put some oil on the trays and plates so the pizza base does not stick on the tray.

Raju sir taught us how to make the base of pizza ready. He took some dough from the bowl and pressed the dough. The dough was very soft and it easy to spread the dough throughout the container. There were many containers to fill and we got tired so we rested for a while. After a break, we we did the same on all other trays. The tomato paste we made was ready so we put paste on the pizza’s base. After that, we put some cheese. Initially, we made a small pizza.  We put the pizza inside the oven and let it bake for an hour. After an hour, we all tasted the pizza. It was the most delicious pizza I had ever tasted.
